The center offers gallery exhibits, programs, classes, children’s camps, theater productions and a genealogy center. The Culture & Arts Education Specialist will work closely with the team to ensure successful programming.
This Position Will
If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
Pay Range
$23.44 - $26.83
Hours
Monday-Friday; 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Variable work schedule. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays will be required.
Work schedule and location is subject to change based on department needs.

This Position Will
- Assist with the implementation of arts programing including classes, workshops, activities, and events.
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve programming.
- Schedule and conduct guided tours.
- Register participants for activities.
- Collaborate with others on the creation of marketing materials.
- Facilitate the coordination of summer camps.
- Provide leadership to temporary staff (including recruiting and training).
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with City employees and the public
- Interest in arts education and/or museum education
- Interest in African or African-American history and/or cultural arts
- Interest in community outreach and engagement
- Flexibility with regard to work hours

- College course work in Education, Ethnic Studies, African American Studies, Social Sciences, Fine Arts or other related fields.
- Experience working with African American youth, adults, senior citizens and community organizations
- Experience creating marketing materials for use on digital platforms

- Maintains and cares for day-to-day management of facilities ,collections, exhibits, records, material assets. Assists in monitoring, updating and improving the facilities, collections, and equipment.
