Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, plus seven (7) years of experience related to engineering.
Licenses or Certifications :
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, the ability to obtain a Texas PE license within one (1) year of employment.

This position resides in the Austin Energy Electrical Distribution Standards Department. The position applies engineering and technical principles to specify the purchase requirements and construction standards of electrical distribution equipment and materials. Researches and analyzes new technologies to determine applicability to utility standards. Oversees technical aspects of projects to assure advancement of new technologies. Works with vendors and manufacturers to provide assistance in determining cause and solutions to equipment and material failures. Works with a broad range of work groups and professional disciplines.

Travel : If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
Preferred Qualifications
1) Experience with medium voltage electrical distribution
2) Experience working with medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment and materials
3) Experience interpreting electrical one-line diagrams relating to medium voltage electrical distribution
4) Experience reading and / or writing technical specifications
5) Experience utilizing Auto CAD
6) Experience overseeing projects and providing technical guidance
7) Experience procuring equipment and material for projects
8) Experience managing multiple projects and ensuring project deadlines are met
9) Ability to travel to more than one work location
