SALARY RANGE: $64,427.00 - $110,756.00 ANNUALLY
BACKGROUND CHECK

PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Grant Specialist III, CGIC Analyst position is to evaluate and analyze NIBIN lead data and provide tactical and operational intelligence products in a timely manner and support intelligence led investigations. The CGIC Analyst will analyze and find any linkages between NIBIN incidents and disseminate to the appropriate detectives for further investigation and follow up. The primary responsibilities of the CGIC Analyst are providing real time actionable intelligence in the form of analytical products that support the CGIC program mission, in addition to providing statistics and weekly reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Understand the definitions of crime analysis and intelligence analysis, as well the types, function and processes of the CGIC analyst within the agency.
- Collect, evaluate and analyze data, while utilizing tactical, strategic, and administrative analysis in support of the police department’s mission and the intelligence-led policing concept.
- Conduct in-depth intelligence analysis and produce crime gun intelligence products.
- Create analytical products such as bulletins and reports, which are suitable for dissemination to various audiences.
- Utilize NESS and eTrace for daily information associated with ballistic evidence entered into NIBIN, review and triage results, and report on success stories.
- Create and disseminate weekly statistical and intelligence reports.
- Participate in any and all training programs required to progress the CGIC program.
- Maintain CGIC database and create other databases or systems that are deemed necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Have bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or possession of an equivalent combination of formal education, work experience and on the job training.
PREFERRED: It is preferred that candidates have some investigative experience with local, State, or Federal law enforcement. They must possess the ability to work with and coordinate the efforts of local, State, and Federal law enforcement; to plan and complete complex projects and present those plans and projects to a group; and to identify and overcome obstacles to those plans.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and familiarity of Microsoft applications, including Access, Excel, and PowerPoint and statistical analysis applications such as Stata, SPSS, and ArcGIS.
- Knowledge and familiarity with social media mining techniques and social network analysts preferred.
- Knowledge and familiarity in NIBIN procedures preferred.
