BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
ELIGIBILITY
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION
Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
CLASS DEFINITION
A Vehicle Processor inspects vehicles towed to Baltimore City’s impoundment lot and records intake and vehicle identification information for accountability purposes. The work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a five-day workweek including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis and are subject to 24-hour shift work and callback on a rotating basis. Work is performed primarily outdoors where employees may be exposed to inclement weather, dusty, muddy or slippery conditions and contaminants. Work requires regular moderate physical exertion including stretching and climbing up and down steps and ramps to reach vehicles.
SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have one year of experience in office support work.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: Have valid Maryland Class C Non-Commercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of basic computer functions.
- Skill in reading and accurately transferring data from initial source to written form and computerized database.
- Observational skills.
- Ability to observe and accurately record findings.
- Ability to write legibly.
- Ability to communicate orally.
- Ability to operate common Window-based business application software.
- Ability to enter, verify and correct data entry errors.
- Ability to operate digital cameras and upload pictures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to maintain records.
- Ability to follow directions and protocols.
