SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $28.30 HOURLY
BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
Summary Of Position
The BCIT Geographic Information Systems (GIS) internship will provide opportunities to learn how the City of Baltimore utilizes spatial technology to support critical operations. The intern will work alongside experienced GIS professionals to perform a range of tasks, including spatial data management, map production, map application development, and coordinating with government stakeholders to support requests and projects. The internship will allow the intern to gain experience working in an increasingly challenging and fast paced atmosphere, as well as learn new skills through several training opportunities.
Interns will obtain feedback from their managers throughout the program, as well as assistance with managing roadblocks along the way. Beginning with virtual orientation, interns will benefit from various aspects of BCIT’s culture.

- Currently attend a Maryland high school as a junior/senior
- Currently attend a Maryland higher education institution
- Graduated from a Maryland high school, but currently attend a non-Maryland higher education institution
- Graduated from a Maryland high school, and is currently enrolled or graduated from a career technical training program
- Available to work a minimum of 20 per week
- ESRI software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123)
- Microsoft Office
- Coursework in information technology, computer science, or business analytics
- Proficient with ESRI software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123)
- Organization skills
- Critical thinker
- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Ability to present recommendations clearly and concisely
