BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks’ Aquatics Division is seeking dependable and qualified individuals to fill these non-civil service, seasonal/temporary Lifeguard II positions for our upcoming 2025 Pool Season to begin in May of 2025 and end in August of 2025.

Position Description
The selected candidates will oversee the activities of swimmers at one of Baltimore City’s public pools to prevent accidents. Some of the duties include but are not limited to: provide aide, rescue swimmers in danger of drowning, administers CPR and/or first aid, inspects and maintains cleanliness of swimming pool facilities and surrounding area, and may give swimming instruction. In addition, Lifeguard II’s may train, instruct, and lead subordinate lifeguard I’s, and performs related duties as required.
Minimum Education, Experience And Certification Requirements
REQUIREMENTS – Minimum Age 16 (A work permit issued by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation is required for those under the age of 18.) Two months experience as a Lifeguard.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS – Water Safety Instruction (WSI), Lifeguarding, First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for Professional Rescuers issued by the American Red Cross or an equivalent certification.
