SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $28.80 HOURLY
BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
Summary Of Position
As an Intern at The Baltimore City Office of Information & Technology on the Security Operations team, our program will:
Provide opportunities for secondary/higher education students to serve as technical interns within the government industry and work alongside experienced IT professionals in an increasingly challenging and fast paced atmosphere.
Interns will obtain feedback from their managers throughout the program, as well as assistance with managing roadblocks along the way. Beginning with virtual orientation, interns will benefit from various aspects of BCIT’s culture.
In Security Operations and Engineering, our intern would work with the team performing daily duties as well as on projects, with the following skills being possible areas to learn.

- Weekly Chew & Chat Fridays (virtual games & exciting ice breakers)

In Security Operations and Engineering, our intern would work with the team performing daily duties as well as on projects, with the following skills being possible areas to learn.
- Vulnerability Management: Participate in reviews of the patch backlog and helping to reducing vulnerability backlog.
- Documentation and Reporting: Assist in documenting vulnerability processes, procedures, and guidelines. This could include creating user guides and standard operating procedures (SOPs). They might also be involved in generating metrics & reports.
- Security Operations: Participate in reviews of service desk tickets to identify backlog of issues that were misclassified resulting in ticket closure without surfacing possible risks to InfoSec.
- Shodan Vulnerability Report: Work on the backlog of external vulnerabilities in the CTAC Shodan vulnerability report. (Creating tickets, remediating CVEs on external servers) using Solar Winds and SSL/VPN review. (This would be a big lift and could take the intern’s entire bandwidth.)
- Currently attend a Maryland high school as a junior/senior.
- Currently attend a Maryland higher education institution.
- Graduated from a Maryland high school but currently attend a non-Maryland higher education institution.
- Graduated from a Maryland high school and is currently enrolled or graduated from a career technical training program.
- Available to work a minimum of 20 per week.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interest of security operations and engineering
- Passion for data security and testing
- Must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- Must be a team player who prefers a collaborative environment
- Working knowledge of MS Excel
