Teach people how to learn to be safe when they are in, on, or around water by teaching proper aquatic safety techniques and swimming skills in a logical progression based on current American Red Cross guidelines.Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.Summer weekday hours requiredPay: $15 - $18 per hour based on experience. As a seasonal position with less than 1,040 hours per year, no benefits are available. Paid Training.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Keep a class roster and keep track of student absencesAdminister appropriate skills tests to students and complete skills sheets so swimmers can be informed of their progressCreate lesson plans/curriculum for classes and work with other WSIs to coordinate various other classes to follow a similar curriculumCommunicate concerns or issues with parents regarding swimmer abilities/progressionMonitor changing weather conditions. Classes will immediately be taken into shelter if lightning is seen and/or nearby thunder is heardAttend all pool in-service training sessionsPrepare and submit all Red Cross swim lesson student progression information to the Badger Chapter of Red Cross via the internetMaintain a copy of student information for your records, and see that they are turned in to the Parks and Recreation Office. You should also be certain to keep up to date with the latest teaching techniques and changes to course contentOther related tasks as directed
