What are the responsibilities and job description for the Non CDL Operator position at City of Battle Creek (MI)?
Battle Creek Transit is looking for individuals to perform safe manual operation of non-CDL vehicles such as Tele-Transit and/or BCGo according to defined routes and schedules. Related work as apparent or assigned. Work performed under general supervision of the Transit Operations Supervisor. This is a United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory, random drug and alcohol testing pursuant to Federal and City regulations and policies.
- Transports passengers door-to-door/curb-to-curb via Tele-Transit and/or BCGo according to routes, schedules, and local policies. Complies with local traffic regulations.
- Assists and interacts with passengers as necessary and regulates vehicle heating, lighting and ventilation for passenger comfort. Maintains good relationship with public.
- Ensure passengers are properly secured and provide assistance with all vehicle entries and exits. Follow all ADA guidelines/regulations as necessary.
- Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Properly report all incidents, accidents, and mechanical concerns.
- Collects and records cash and ticket fares with accuracy.
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid chauffer license in the State of Michigan
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully complete PASS training within 90 days of hire
- Must be able to possess a DOT card upon hire
- Must have negative USDOT pre-employment drug screening
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, bending, reaching, squatting, and stooping. Position also requires hand dexterity (grasping, holding, keyboarding, repetitive movements), reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, color, depth, field of vision), hearing, using the telephone, contact with government officials and the general public, working overtime, and working alone. Work frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally including wet, humid, hot, and cold.
Salary : $18 - $24
