Recorder Treasurer (Finance Director/Procurement Officer)

The position of Recorder-Treasurer performs administrative work conducting the daily business activities of the City of Beckley, including complex financial management. This position acts as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Beckley. This role ensures that the municipality’s financial practices are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while supporting the long-term fiscal health and sustainability of the City. This position directs the overall budgeting and finance functions of the city; directs the functions of the city in all areas of finance including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, special assessments, treasury, and bonded debt. Oversees and/or performs work relating to the maintenance of official city records, financial management, budgeting process and strategic financial planning. This position is the chief procurement officer for the City. This position keeps records of all council proceedings, handles correspondence of behalf of the city, and executes any assignments given by the City Manager. The position of Recorder-Treasurer is responsible for accounting for all receipts and disbursements in regard to city funds. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with the public, co-workers, and departments, and it also requires excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a busy office setting.
