Job Summary
Highland Community Center is hiring Adaptive Recreation Program Staff !
Responsible for facilitating adaptive recreation programs at the Highland Community Center for adults with intellectual disabilities. Staff must actively engage and supervise participants while leading groups of 10-30 people. This is a fun and rewarding part time or second job. Classes include art, dance, BINGO, Sports, fitness, crafts, and special events.
Our team at Highland Community Center works to provide people living with disabilities opportunities for recreation, socialization, and learning so they can participate more successfully in the life of their community. Programs are designed to help individuals living with disabilities learn new skills, develop confidence, build relationships, maintain a healthy lifestyle, find new interests, and most importantly, have fun.
SCHEDULE :
Programs are held Monday through Friday from 5pm-8 : 30pm and schedule will vary depending on courses staff wants to facilitate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Facilitate all aspects of recreation within assigned program for participants
- Responsible for assigned class activities
- Coaches
- Performs data entry for program management
- Leads volunteers
- Teaches (small classes)
- Creates displays
- Adapt course material to participant ability level
- Accountable for participants during programs
- Provide assistance feeding participants
- Does word processing
- Program preparation and set-up; explains program requirements.
- Operates specialized equipment.
- Applies Basic first aid when necessary
- Assists with set up, maintenance, and / or operation of data management processes.
- Works in more than one assignment in the Recreation Division.
