Distinguishing Characteristics
Under the direction of the Recreation Specialist, Recreation Leaders will be responsible for the supervision of children (6 - 12 years of age) in the Benicia Parks & Community Services Department. Job duties include planning and scheduling daily activities such as arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, low-key sports activities, and special events.
Standard First Aid and CPR certifications are required once hired for the Recreation Leader position. The Recreation Leader position is a mandated reporter position.
Representative Duties / Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.

SELECTION PROCESS

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen and background check (fingerprints).
This position is a part-time at-will position.
The position does not receive any health insurance benefits.
Unless otherwise eligible for CalPERS retirement system, employees in this category are enrolled in PARS, an alternate retirement system, and employees have a 6.2% payroll deduction towards PARS.
The City does not participate in Social Security except for the required Medicare program, which is a 1.45% payroll deduction.
