The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for a temporary position as Human Resources Technician! In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical skills in the recruitment and personnel transactions teams, be a liaison between City departments and Human Resources, and expand your knowledge of human resources operations.
During this 6-month role, you will support the HR Department's seasonal hiring efforts from beginning to end. You'll support the recruitment team by using the NEOGOV applicant tracking system to screen applications for a variety of classifications, create offer letters, and process onboarding paperwork. You will also support the personnel transactions team by entering new hire information into our automated payroll and personnel system.
This position requires excellent attention to detail, a high degree of customer service, multi-tasking skills, and the ability to accurately interpret policies and procedures.

Equivalent to two (2) years of college and two (2) years of office assistant experience, which included at least one (1) year working with human resources policies, procedures and practices in a human resources operation. Additional human resources office assistant experience may be substituted for the college requirement on a year for year basis.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, human resources management, industrial relations, or a closely related field.

Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities.
