The City of Bethlehem is seeking a Superintendent to oversee the maintenance of city streets, leaf collection, and snow plowing within the Department of Public Works. This role is vital in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and directs repair and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, storm sewers, and street appurtenances.
- Directs leaf collection and snow removal operations.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
- Prepares and submits annual budget.
- Oversees daily operations and runs reports using the City's AVL Navigation System.
- Prepares and approves daily payroll for the bureau.
- Creates work schedule, monitors progress, and ensures work is completed on time and to standards.
- Obtains supplies, materials, and equipment necessary to complete work.
- Conducts site inspections to monitor progress and address any issues that arise.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction management or a related field.
- Extensive experience in highway construction or street maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating and project scheduling techniques.
- Ability to develop work plans and direct the work of employees.
- High school diploma or GED required, some college courses in civil engineering preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work nights, evenings, and weekends during snow operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $81,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
