This position performs specialized duties in support of the city's urban forestry programs.
Examples of Duties
• Schedules and responds to tree planting permit requests; updates GIS inventory.
• Prepares grant applications; manages grant funds; ensures compliance with grant requirements; prepares required reports.
• Assists the City Forester with site visits and technical calls.
• Recruits sponsors for the Partners in Planting program; tracks program funds; inspects plantings.
• Plans Arbor Day programs and activities.
• Prepares bid specifications for stump contractor; maintains stump list; inspects stumps and updates records.
• Manages the work of seasonal crews.
• Coordinates replacement trees and inspects damage to trees and exposed roots during street improvement projects.
• Updates and reviews arborist licensure; tracks licensed arborist insurance expiration dates.
• Manages the department website.
• Designs and updates department brochures and flyers.
• Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
