Description & Details : The Community Forestry Volunteer / Partnership Coordinator delivers technical, educational, and financial community forestry assistance to local governments, communities, and volunteer-based organizations. The Coordinator extends external partnerships, leverages program support, and diversifies stakeholder and citizen involvement in North Dakota's Community Forestry Programs. This position works statewide and is expected to travel.
Office Location : Bottineau or Walhalla Field Office preferred. Other options include central or western North Dakota.
Work Schedule : M - F, 8 - 5pm. Some weekend and evening work is required.
Advertised Salary : $51,174 DOE
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the responsibilities of the position.
- Two years of experience in forestry, natural resources, extension service, community engagement or similar work.
- Valid driver's license.
- Core competencies :
Plan, implement, and evaluate resource management alternatives.

The North Dakota Forest Service is part of North Dakota State University, and is the state agency which administers cooperative forestry programs statewide. The agency provides technical assistance relating to the management of private forest lands, state forest lands, urban and community forests, tree planting, and wildfire protection. The agency works in cooperation with rural landowners, urban residents, communities, rural fire districts, schools, and other government entities to direct and strengthen forestry services. The Forest Service also operates a tree seedling nursery and manages state forest lands.
