The Human Resources (HR) Specialist runs daily functions of the HR Department including recruitment activities, employee benefits and other projects as required. This position works with the others in department to assist the HR Department in meeting its goals. This position provides a high level of customer service to candidates and employees, the general public, vendors, and other contacts.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Other duties may be assigned.Assists with coverage of the HR front desk, providing a high level of external and internal customer service via phone, email, fax and in-person inquiries. Sorts and distributes mail and faxes within the HR department. Assist with the administration of FMLA in accordance with established deadlines by the Department of Labor, City policy, local, state or federal law.Works closely with the HR Manager for recruitment and filling seasonal and full-time vacancies. Attends events to promote the City as needed. Prepares recruitment materials and posts jobs to appropriate job boards/newspapers/colleges/etc. Serves as backup for the seasonal hiring process.Educates employees of benefit options available during new hire onboarding and Open Enrollment. Manages the City’s Internship Program, Summer Youth Program and Volunteer Program, working in a similar capacity with departments to identify needs, coordinate recruiting efforts, and select qualified candidates. Oversees the City’s Tuition Reimbursement program.Conducts general oversite and maintenance of the HR SharePoint site.Assists with processing payments for all HR bills, collect and code PCard transactions and make any necessary deposits.Assists with administration of wellness programs as needed to foster a healthy culture for a diverse workforce. Efforts may include but are not limited to the City’s Wellness Day initiative, the health fair, ongoing fitness-related efforts, employee communications, health club reimbursements, etc.
