Locating, identifying, and marking underground utilities before construction or other projects.
Documenting any irregularities.
Analyzing utility maps.
Ability to use specialized handheld equipment to locate utility lines.
Marking each line with marker paint.
Knowledge of computer operations and programs, and familiarity with the operation of GIS computer systems.High school education or GED
One-year prior experience in utilities or utility line locating
Incumbent performs majority of duties out of doors, in varying weather conditions, and is periodically exposed to excessive noise, dirt, dust, and vehicle and equipment fumes. Incumbent performs duties which require frequent bending, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of equipment and tools. Safety precautions must be used at all times to avoid injury to self and others.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including co-workers, City and other government officials, community groups, and the general public.
