Primary Objective
The Head Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing day to day lifeguard operations and ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons. This role involves monitoring and auditing lifeguard performance to improve effectiveness, delegating tasks, and acting as a liaison to the Assistant Coordinator. The Head Lifeguard should exemplify responsibility, leadership, friendly public relations/customer service, and be a voice for the Lifeguard staff.

Essential Functions of the Position:
Responsibilities:
- Assist Assistant Coordinators with preseason trainings, in-service trainings, and staff meetings for lifeguards.
- Provide day to day oversite for lifeguards to ensure high standards of customer service and safety
- Knowledge of daily operations for all areas of the facility.
- Ability to communicate well with customers, staff, and supervisor.
- Coach staff members in facility procedures and policies, and delegate tasks and follow up when needed.
- Enforce City of Bloomington policies and procedures.
- Ensure pool deck and lifeguard spaces are clean and orderly
- Maintaining a positive work environment that focuses on providing high quality service.
- Attend meetings as scheduled.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Coordinator.
Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a least 18 years of age
- American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
- One season lifeguard experience
Desirable Qualifications:
Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions. In addition, Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligable for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.
Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive benefits outside of Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook.
