(Seasonal) Banneker Camp Recreational Leader– Banneker Community Center-Summer Program
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Summer job opportunity working with at-risk youth in Bloomington. Provide on-site supervision and lead a group of summer campers through activities at the Banneker Community Center for the Summer Program. Implement daily programs--educational, sports, cultural, fitness, health and wellness and social activities. Work closely with Banneker Program Specialist, community groups and volunteers to provide quality activities for youth ages 6-13.
EDUCATION:
High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
TRAINING/SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to interact effectively with children and adults. Must be mature and have good judgment. Must display integrity, and take pride in preserving the safety and well being of participants at all times. Must have strong planning skills and the ability to implement a variety of recreational activities. Ability to work independently, supervise participants, and take direction from the Site Supervisor. Must be able to be flexible in reaching children, and take initiative to ensure that the safety of the kids and goals of the program are met.
EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate and work well with others. Prior work history or knowledge, working with adolescents.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Valid Indiana License, CPR and First Aid or ability to obtain.
HOURS:
Part-time hours, mornings, afternoons, and evenings. 19.5-29.5 hours Program runs from late May 2025 to end of July 2025, for approximately 9 weeks. Paid training is provided.
SALARY:
$16.32 per hour
