TEMPORARY FULL TIME - (MOWING CREW)

OPERATIONS DIVISION – 2 Positions

PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Incumbent works under the supervision of the Staff Assistant or other appointed supervisor as a member of a work crew. Incumbent may be frequently directed to complete a job without direct supervision.

Performs a wide variety of duties and tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of city parks, grounds, trails, and facilities. Primary duties are grounds keeping tasks such as grass mowing and trimming.

Additional duties include:

· Performing mowing and trimming, tree cutting, brush and debris removal, material hauling, turf repair, leaf raking, painting, litter pick-up, and other related duties as assigned.

· Accountable for maintaining high standards for safety, maintenance, and appearance.

· Takes part in set-ups and dismantles of tables, chairs, tents, stages, etc for special events as needed

· Continuous litter pick-up and removal from assigned areas as directed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Previous experience and good working knowledge and skill in the safe operation of trucks, grounds keeping equipment, tractors, weed eaters, power tools, hand tools, and other related equipment.

· Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to interact and work well with the public and other employees.

· Possess or obtain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.

· Must be reliable, punctual, have the ability to follow oral and written direction, and be capable of performing physically demanding work.

· Valid Driver’s License. Good driving record.

Must be in good physical condition. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is exerted by the employee in the setup and operation of equipment; including frequent bending, stooping, and the movement of extremities to operate equipment and perform work tasks. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is frequently required for extended periods of time in the lifting and loading of equipment and tools. Employee must be physically capable of lifting weights in excess of 75 pounds.

Employee performs duties in and out of doors, in varying weather conditions, and is periodically exposed to work sites with traffic, noise, dust, and vehicle and equipment fumes.

8 hours per day, 7:30am-3:30pm. Some weekends may be required. 40 hour work week, except during periods of inclement weather. Employees under age eighteen are subject to restrictions on both hours and prohibited occupations.

March 17 – November 21 Term of employment not to exceed nine months.

Mowing Crew Specialist – Operations Superintendent

$16.42 - $16.62 per hour
