TEMPORARY FULL TIME - (MOWING CREW SUPERVISOR)
OPERATIONS DIVISION
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Incumbent is directly responsible for the overall grounds maintenance and general appearance of multiple park sites. Responsible for the direct supervision, training, safety, equipment operation, and performance of a 3- person crew performing a wide variety of grounds keeping and maintenance duties.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
· Safely and efficiently transporting crew and equipment trailer to assigned park sites.
· Directing equipment and personnel to assigned tasks, ensuring that work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
· Performing mowing and trimming, tree cutting, brush and debris removal, material hauling, turf repair, leaf raking, painting, litter pick-up, and other related duties as assigned.
· Accountable for maintaining high standards for safety, maintenance, and appearance.
· Takes part in set-ups and dismantles of tables, chairs, tents, stages, etc for special events as needed
· Other duties as assigned.
Previous experience and working knowledge and skill in the safe operation of trucks, equipment trailers, riding mowers, push mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, power tools, hand tools, and other related grounds keeping equipment.
· Prior supervisory experience desirable. Must have the ability to properly assign the necessary resources to complete the job assignment in an efficient and safe manner and in compliance with maintenance standards.
· Possess or obtain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
· Must have the ability to train, motivate, supervise, direct, and evaluate the work performance of subordinates.
· Working knowledge of mechanics and ability to perform safety/maintenance equipment inspections.
· Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to interact and work well with the public and other employees.
· Must be reliable, punctual, have the ability to follow oral and written direction, and be capable of performing physically demanding work.
· Valid Driver’s License. Good driving record.

Must be in good physical condition. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is exerted by the employee in the setup and operation of equipment; including frequent bending, stooping, and the movement of extremities to operate equipment and perform work tasks. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is frequently required for extended periods of time in the lifting, loading of equipment and tools. Employee must be physically capable of lifting weights in excess of 75 pounds. Employee performs duties in and out of doors, in varying weather conditions, and is periodically exposed to work sites with traffic, noise, dust, and vehicle and equipment fumes.
8 hours per day, 7:30am-3:30pm. Some weekends may be required. 40 hour work week, except during periods of inclement weather. Employees under age eighteen are subject to restrictions on both hours and prohibited occupations.
March 17 – December 5 Term of employment not to exceed nine months.
