Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Programs Specialist. Aquatics Fitness Instructors lead, instruct, and motivate participants in group water fitness classes. They are responsible for coaching participants through safe and effective exercise programs. This includes motivating energetically, providing feedback, assessing strengths and weaknesses, clearly communicating, and creating a community of wellness.

Job Description
AQUATICS FITNESS
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Aquatic Fitness)
- Instruct participants in beginner, intermediate and advanced water fitness skills and techniques as described in course objectives.
- Modify program plans as needed to meet class objectives and participant needs.
- Always display a positive and professional attitude.
- Provide appropriate feedback to class participants on correct techniques and overall performance.
- Provide technique modifications to participants as needed.
- Maintain any reports (attendance, etc.) as required.
- Set up equipment and/or supplies for each class prior to start time. Clean up equipment at the end of class.
- Attend trainings, orientations and/or staff meetings as required.
- Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned area and make judgments related to safety.
- Ability to teach aquatic fitness from the deck and in the water.
- Ability to plan and instruct classes as assigned.
- Aqua Fitness Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED and Basic First Aid Certifications.
- Previous educational, volunteer or employment experience in aquatic fitness.
- Good organizational and collaborative skills.
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance.
- Ability to communicate professionally, courteously, and effectively verbally and in writing with other staff members and the public.
- Valid driver's license. Have and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history
- Previous experience leading, planning, or coordinating aquatic fitness programs.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
- Valid driver's license
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED and Basic First Aid Certifications
