What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR (CONTRACT POSITION) position at City of Bowie?
The Events Specialist is a contractual role that involves planning and coordinating special events activities for the City, additionally the incumbent will be responsible for marketing, permitting, community collaboration and will have significant responsibilities for on-site coordination of events and programs. Strong independent judgement is required in this role. The Events Specialist reports to the Community Outreach Manager and works collaboratively with various leadership within the City.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A valid motor vehicle license.
- Associate's degree with coursework in event management, hospitality, humanities, community outreach, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community outreach, programming, special events, or cultural initiatives, with an emphasis on event/program management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to market events and programs using technology such as websites, social media, video format, etc.
- Ability to create graphic materials such as flyers, forms, social media content, etc.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule for 2-3 days a week. Weekend availability is required for a limited number of events.
Salary: $23.00 - $25.00 Hourly
