COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COORDINATOR
Communications Department, Public Services Bureau
Hourly, Non-Exempt Classified Full Time (40hrs per week)
Position Summary: The Community Affairs Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and
implementing impactful public relations programs that promote the City of Bowling Green brand and
message. Assists with and creates educational programming and public outreach through a multi-media
approach. Works with all city departments to communicate and promote City projects/initiatives to
both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience & Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism,
Communications/Public Relations, Visual Communications Technology, Public Administration or other
related field and with two (2) to three (3) years’ related experience in communications; OR any
combination of education, training and work experience which provides the required skills to
perform the essential functions of the job. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Skills: Collaboration with the ability to work effectively in a team environment; prioritization
and management of multiple tasks; attention to detail and accuracy; marketing and communications
expertise; excellent written and verbal communication skills; multimedia graphics, brochures, and
visual aid design; knowledge of current trends and methods in public relations.
Pay & Benefits: The current pay range is $30.67 to $39.17 per hour in Pay Band 4 of the City’s Wage
