Position: Golf Course Ranger
Reports to: Golf Assistant Manager
Salary Range: $12.00 - $13.58 per hour
SUMMARY: Help with enforcement of rules on the golf course and orderly flow of play.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assure the proper pace of play on the golf course.
· Enforce the necessary golf course rules and etiquette;
· Cars should not be driven closer than 30 feet of greens and kept on the paths around tees.
· All posted instructions must be observed.
· Replace divots, repair ball marks on greens, replace signs, rake sand traps, police grounds for trash or broken tees, etc.
· Help locate lost balls.
· No more than two riders per cart.
· Each player must have his/her own clubs and bag.
· Encourage fast play. Help groups found out of position catch up and escort off the course when necessary.
· Enforce dress code including proper footwear.
· Maintain ice and water in water coolers.
· Make note of maintenance practices that tend to contribute to slow play. Submit in writing to golf professional.
· Keep in contact with clubhouse and staff for possible problem groups.
· Report car and course abusers immediately to the golf professional.
· Report to golf shop and get a current list of days starting times, make changes as necessary.
· Be at station on first tee and assure the orderly flow of play.
· Prevent groups from becoming late in their starting rotation, if necessary, rotate a group that is ready for one that is not.
· Assist players without games in finding one. Use the facility to maximum efficiency by keeping play in four ball matches whenever possible.
· Keep a record of play and check receipts to make sure all have paid.
· Supervise play in accordance with course rules; proper golf attire and footwear, each player has own clubs and bag , etc.
· Call groups to the tee by ticket number and instruct when it is safe to hit.
· Keep scorecards and pencils on hand to assist those who forget. Maintain water coolers during day.
· Keep area around tee neat and free of debris, keep cars lined up and check for damage, empty trash, clean spike cleaners, pick up cigarette butts, and broken tees, rotate tee positions to help keep from wearing out the tee.
· Pass out information regarding course condition, rules, etc.
· Watch for abuse of practice green.
· Stay visible and in constant communication with golf shop and course ranger to anticipate problems.
· MAKE SURE ALL BEER BROUGHT TO THE GOLF COURSE HAS BEEN PURCHASED FROM THE GOLF COURSE.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Mental: Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others. Able to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately. Must be able to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work independently and follow both oral and written instructions. Communicates clearly both verbally and written. Remains calm in difficult situations.
Physical:Must be able to stand for extensive periods of time.
Working Conditions: Works in cooled/heated building as well as outdoor climate
