- As part of the Growing Grads Summer Internship Program, the following dates are required for interns to attend: June 9, June 10, June 17 and July 22.
Definition:
Under general supervision of the Sustainability Division in the City Manager's Office, the Sustainability Intern provides assistance in the development of the City's sustainability program and the implementation of the 2024 Sustainability Plan. Goal areas will include tasks aimed at improving energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable transportation, waste diversion, air quality, and resiliency outcomes in the City of Brighton. The Sustainability Intern will also assist in various community engagement functions, such as the upcoming sustainability newsletter, 2025 Earth Day and Zero Waste events, and the quarterly sustainability coalition virtual event.
Example of Duties:
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinate community education and outreach and develop educational materials
- Assist with organizing sustainability events (i.e. Earth Day, Zero Waste event, quarterly meetings)
- Assist with improving central organization system for sustainability-related information
- Attend inter-departmental and regional sustainability meetings
- Conduct research on regional sustainability trends
- Other tasks as assigned
- Basic knowledge or interest in sustainability practices
- Desire to learn about multiple areas of sustainability
- Ability to research, analyze and discuss sustainability topics related to energy efficiency, air quality, water conservation, and waste diversion
- Knowledge of marketing and social media best practices
- Ability to work independently but also be an active and engaged team member
- Ability to multitask
- Manage time effectively
Summer Internship hours would be 15-20 hours per week up to a total of 150 hours.
Work hours will be during working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
