SUMMARY: The Senior Network Administrator performs professional-level work associated with support, management, security, and architecture of the City-wide network system, including operating system support, workstation set-up, data communication management, systems back-up and operations, voice mail and phone systems management, personal computer based applications training, Help Desk support, and Internet access. The incumbent maintains the City's data communication lines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- 1. Responsible for the administration and engineering of the City s computer network including: the selection of personal computer application software; computer operating systems upgrades, and the installation of all computer hardware and software.
- 2. Manages and coordinates the maintenance and repair schedule for all computer hardware.
- 3. Designs, supports, and repairs the City-wide network.
- 4. Implements and supports data communication for personal computers.
- 5. Collaborates with and provides back up support for technical support staff and consults with computer vendors regarding computer network support and design.
- 6. Provides technical support for Internet connections, Office 365, and e-mail.
- 7. Provides database administration services and assists staff in configuring and installing databases.
- 8. Assists the Information Technology Director and IT Security Manager with security related technologies and procedures.
- 9. Architects the network and application environments to insure they are properly secured and backed up.
- 10. Monitors the network environment using various tools and technologies for possible security incidents and researches solutions to resolve incidents and identified weaknesses.
- 11. Manages the Office 365 email environment, phone and voice mail systems, virtual server environment, firewall configuration and VPN access.
- 12. Contributes technical information and assists in the development of the City s disaster recovery plans.
- 13. Provides information technology support to all departments on a 24 hours per day; seven days per week basis.
- 14. Manages the virus and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) protection policy, computer licenses, and warranties.
- 15. Oversees installation of network system upgrades and preventative maintenance programs.
- 16. Responsible for the requirements for the purchase of personal computers, peripherals, and other network related items.
- 17. Manages projects independently including workstation rollouts, network and server upgrades, security related projects, etc.
- 18. If issues arise or assistance is required during projects, the Senior Network Administrator escalates these to the Information Technology Director for additional direction.
- 19. Assists in preparing and presenting technical information to various committees.

2025 PAY RANGE:
Senior Network Administrator: Salary Grade 5: $40.32 - $52.42 $83,871.58 - $109,032.82 annually
Network Administrator: Salary Grade 2: $32.92 - $42.79 $68,463.98 - $89,002.94 annually
Appointments are usually made at the beginning of the range.
