Pay: $2,874 per month / $16.58 per hour
Post-probation pay: $2,960 per month / $17.08 per hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible to the Municipal Court Supervisor for the performance of duties as prescribed herein and has the responsibility in preparing necessary documentation for community service workers. This person will be required to work Monday through Friday except when the work week may fluctuate to compensate for one Saturday a month workday. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood “I SERVE” Core Values.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
1) Set, in conjunction with the Municipal Court Supervisor, the daily itinerary for the community service workers; 2) Manage community service workers – both youth and adults; 3) Fill work order requests from City departments for community service workers; 4) Provides daily information for work log. 5) Maintain community service van in a clean and operating condition to include washing, service checkups, etc.; 6) Oversee workers cleaning the Courtroom and Municipal Court; 7) Plan of action on days with no workers present – to include working with the Planning and Development Department with mowing and landscaping needs; 8) Other duties as assigned by the Department Head and/or Municipal Court Supervisor.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50-100 pounds occasionally. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, sweep and dig. Ability to walk over sloped & uneven terrain. Work involves getting dirty and wet, cutting grass and tree limbs. Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes and odors. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public. Ability to understand verbal and written communication. Indoors/outdoors - temperatures exceeding 100 degrees F and below 32 degrees F in all types of weather. Medium to heavy physical activity to include lifting at least 50 pounds.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Frequent contact with City employees, general public, community service workers-both juveniles and adults, in person and by telephone.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent. Experience with yard maintenance equipment (i.e. heavy mowers, weed eaters, etc.), supervisory experience along with experience in working with juveniles and confidential information.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must be dependable and responsible. Must be able to follow instructions and work safely without presenting a direct threat to defendants or others. Must be able to communicate orally, give instructions and respond to stressful and demanding situations calmly with regards to the safety of others. Must be able to operate tractors, mowing equipment and a variety of light types of motorized equipment. Ability to perform work with an emphasis on detail using ingenuity, initiative and judgment. Must be flexible for daily schedule purposes. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Valid Texas driver license. Must have an acceptable driving record. Willing to pursue training in the supervision of juveniles and emergency first aid treatment.
