IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Sports Complex Crew Chief
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a seasonal position and is scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week and less than 1000 hours per fiscal year. A non-supervisory position with journeyman level with responsibility for the performance of skilled manual labor, including the care and maintenance of ballparks and other recreational facilities operated by the city; primary responsibility is for ballpark maintenance. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood “I SERVE” Core Values.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
1) Cut grass and ballfields; 2) Irrigate and fertilize; 3) Cleans restrooms in complex and recreational buildings; 4) Repairs fences, gates, bleachers and general maintenance including assisting others as needed; 5) Polices parks and recreational areas to assure they are kept clean; 6) Mark fields to specifications of the leagues; 7) Drives a City vehicle from site to site in order to perform duties; 8) Performs other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor and Sports Complex Crew Chief.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to potentially hazardous mechanical and chemical hazards. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50-75 pounds occasionally. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, sweep, and dig. Ability to walk over uneven, sloped & uneven terrain. Work involves getting dirty and wet, cutting grass and tree limbs. Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, and odors. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public. Ability to understand verbal and written communication. Outdoors, subject to exposure to adverse weather conditions, noise, dust, and physical demands of manual labor; required to work flexible hours when necessary.

Some contact with the general public; normal contact with other city employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have enough education to read and write.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of methods, practices and materials used in ballfield maintenance, general maintenance work; ability to understand and follow verbal instructions; ability to perform job satisfactorily without constant supervision. Ability to operate push and riding mowers, weed-eaters, edgers, tillers and line chair machines. Tractor experience helpful.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Valid Texas Driver License.
