General Purpose
Performs a variety of routine clerical and financial work.
Supervision Received
Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Finance Director and Finance Director.
Supervision Exercised
None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides customer service to residents and various other departments; in person or on the telephone; answers questions; responds to inquiries.
Maintains accounts payable, encumbrance system and other information that might be necessary to support City accounting.
Processes purchase orders and invoices for accuracy; verifies account codes for proper assignments of budget expenditures; prepares checks for payment.
Maintains inventory system.
Operates cash register and check scanner; balances money against cash register receipts.
Processes credit card transactions.
Processes billing for refuse collection and any other amounts billed in conjunction with the refuse bills; maintain accurate records for each account; post debits and credits and adjustments to the system.
Assist in the processing of employee payroll.
Peripheral Duties
Employee may be asked to perform other duties based on the business needs of the City.
Employee may be asked to work holidays.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in accounting or general office practices.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to deal with the public in a friendly and courteous manner; Working knowledge of computers; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly; Ability to operate a 10-key calculator; Ability to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to establish successful working relationships; Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions; Ability to operate listed tools and equipment.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver's license. Must be bondable
Tools and Equipment Used
Personal computer including word processing and spreadsheet software; financial computer system; check scanner, telephone; 10-key calculator, typewriter, fax machine. copy machine and switchboard.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Some of the work and projects performed are done at City Hall. Occasionally, work is done at various other City locations, or other sites which may require travel. The position may also require travel for the purpose of attending training workshops.
