Responsible for the development and oversight of the Caldwell Parks & Recreation marketing and public communications strategies and activities; will perform a variety of administrative, clerical, technical, bookkeeping, and related administrative support tasks.The principal function of an employee in this class is to manage and coordinate all marketing, advertising, sponsorships, and promotional activities. Work may include maintaining financial and specialized department records and interaction with key departments, personnel, and the public. The work is performed under the general direction of the Parks & Recreation Director and is performed in a general office environment.

Assists the parks and recreation director in interactions with the media and responds to information requests from other agencies and the general public.Leads recreation staff in developing creative concepts to be used to market programs.Organizes and redesigns communication templates and event advertisements.Monitors the use of the City's brand and logo to ensure consistency of brand identity.Creates marketing and communication plans and materials to help achieve goals and increase public awareness.Conducts market analysis and executes communication campaigns.Creates appealing communication and promotional material for the parks and recreation website; ensures website content is accurate and updated; works with IT and the parks and recreation director on web design and content.Develops and oversees online communities and social media networks.Maintains current knowledge of parks and recreation trends and keeps media contact lists current.Develops print and electronic materials, including brochures, newsletters, flyers, email campaigns, press releases, signs, etc.Performs personal and confidential secretarial and administrative support tasks.May prepare and process accounts payable and keeps documentation as required.May perform accounts receivable for designated revenue sources and prepares and inputs invoices, balances ledgers, prepared revenue deposits, and ensures timely payments.Transcribes or prepares a variety of correspondence including letters, minutes, reports, lists, statements, grant applications, specifications, contracts, memoranda, notices, resolutions, budgets, financial and statistical tables, requisitions, and other related materials, including confidential correspondences and reports.Complies with city and department rules, policies, procedures, regulations, and safety practices in accordance with prescribed procedures and guidelines.Tracks and records a wide variety of department activities, operations, and events.Answers department telephone calls, receives and greets visitors, and provides information or makes referrals to other appropriate departments or city personnel.Gathers, assembles, updates, distributes and files a variety of information, forms, records, and data.Listens to and directs complaints from the public relating to department operations and takes appropriate action to resolve and refer such complaints.Collects and researches data for reports.Interacts well with city departments and staff in the communication of information; safeguards confidential information regarding personnel issues.Schedules hotel and travel arrangements for department employees attending schools and conferences; and coordinates with the finance department for travel advances and reimbursement requests.
