What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks and Recreation Director position at City of Caldwell?
The principal functions of an employee in this class is to provide general guidance and management direction through delegation of responsibility to department superintendents and administrative staff responsible for day-to-day operations. This job classification is responsible for the acquisition, planning, development, improvement, management, and maintenance of public recreation facilities, city golf facilities, cemetery facilities, and a municipal park system that includes parks, sports complexes, athletic fields, a swimming pool, special event venues, golf courses, and cemetery facilities. Duties involve preparing short and long-range plans; budgeting; and the coordination and administration of diversified community enrichment and public recreation programs.
Education, Training and/or Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Park Management or Public Administration
- At least five years of progressively responsible leadership and supervisory experience in parks and recreation management
Licenses, Certifications and Other Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Obtain a Parks and Recreation Professional Certification within one year of employment
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug testing
