Under the general direction of a designated supervisor, performs customer service, routine maintenance and monitoring of the City's water, sewer and reuse metering system. Performs, as needed, bench testing, regular field audits of meters and the corresponding meter billing component rate; responds to and investigates customer complaints, verifies questionable meter readings, reports needed meter maintenance; oversees or performs connects and disconnects, sensor repairs or connections; and may provide technical training to assigned personnel.
Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation: If assigned, employees in this classification will be required to report and carry out duties as directed for the duration of an emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.

- High school diploma and additional six (6) months of advanced study or technical training.
- Two (2) years of experience in water meter reading
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
- Performs superior, comprehensive customer service and technical assistance to complete work orders on residential and commercial water accounts.
- Performs turn on/off curb stops at water meters, conducts re-reads to verify read information and takes action as necessary.
- Inspects and audits meters for tampering, malfunctions, or operational deficiencies and maintains appropriate documentation of any irregularities observed; includes multi-meter accounts and matching water flow to meters.
- Investigates and resolves reports of questionable readings and water leaks. Verifies meter ID's, water flow, and related factors.
- Explains billing procedures to consumers and performs connects or disconnects of service according to account status, i.e., delinquency, relocations, new accounts and customer requests.
- Performs other related duties as required.
