The City of Cape Girardeau Finance Office is seeking qualified applicants for employment in the position of Assistant Finance Director. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting technical review and account oversight and reconciliation duties. Assists the Finance Director in planning and directing the Finance Department operations including supervision of assigned personnel and preparation of the citywide annual budget.
Position must have knowledge of governmental accounting theory, principles and practices. Knowledge of automation and computerized financial applications, knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, purchasing and accounts receivable functions, knowledge of budgetary, accounting and reporting systems, knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Principles. Have the ability to prepare and analyze complex financial report and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City departments, city officials, employees and the public.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree is accounting, finance, business, public administration or related fields is required. Three (3) or more years of accounting experience and have CPA or equivalent work experience. Preference may be given to candidates with five (5) or more years of accounting experience, three (3) or more years of supervisory experience and CPA certified.
