General Definition of Work
Performs works responsible in the operation of heavy and light equipment in support of the maintenance of the City of Cape Girardeau’s stormwater system. Also performs duties in the maintenance and operation of the River Flood Protection Systems.
Essential Functions
● Operates front-end loaders, tractors, mowers, spray equipment excavators, backhoes, track loaders, dozers and other equipment.
● Maintains ditches and performs repairs on storm sewers.
● Assists in seasonal snow and ice removal
● Prepares job sites for future construction and excavation work.
● Mows city maintained areas, including creeks, channels and basins.
● Responds to emergency calls as needed.
● Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● High School diploma or equivalent and one (1) years of related experience is required.
● Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements, possess and maintain a valid Class “B” or better CDL with air brake endorsement or obtain within eight (8) months of placement in this position. (Permit must be obtained within first two (2) months and permanent CDL must be obtained within the consecutive six (6) month period) of placement this position.
Salary per hour $18.04, plus a generous benefit package.
- Bi-weekly pay periods.

- Total compensation value for this position is $27.11 hourly/$56,387 yearly, which consists of starting hourly rate plus the benefit package.
Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test, background investigation and pre-employment physical.
