GENERAL PURPOSE: Under limited supervision, manages Information Technology (IT) Technician staff in a senior role. Responsible for general technical support operations, asset management, and ongoing customer service.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises Information Technology (IT) Technicians.Education and Experience:
Associate Degree in Computer Science and five (5) years of senior level technical support experience, including two (2) years of hardware and software license management and procurement; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Valid State of Arizona Driver’s License. This position also supports public safety personnel and systems. Employee will need to maintain Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) Network Terminal Operator: Technical – Level D certification with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) after hire.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Standard office environment. Applicant must be able to physically deploy computer hardware. Applicant may need to be available outside of standard business hours in case of an emergency.
Necessary Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of software licensing with an emphasis on Microsoft Enterprise Agreements and Microsoft Software Assurance.
• Knowledge of operating system image management.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
• Knowledge of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), Public Rate Interface (PRI) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) technologies.
• Ability to manage small-scale technology projects.
• Skill interacting with telecommunications service providers.
• Skill in the use of diagnostic software and hardware to repair computers and peripherals.
• Skill in customer service and critical thinking.
• Skill in technical staff management and team development.
• Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.

- Manages general technical support operations for all staff and elected officials. This includes hardware, software, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies.
- Maintains accurate hardware and software asset inventories relevant to the Information Technology (IT) Division.
- Researches client-side technologies and recommends viable solutions to the IT Manager.
- Manages client-side software product lifecycles and hardware replacement programs.
- Maintains an assortment of software license agreements to ensure compliance with legal terms and acceptable use conditions.
- Manages the IT work order system. Responsible for initial work order assignment, review, follow-up, escalation, meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and maintaining excellent customer service.
- Provides senior level technical support and successive escalation during and outside of standard business hours.
- Implements and maintains vetted operating system images applicable to standardized desktop and laptop hardware deployments.
- Creates and maintains installation, configuration, and process documentation for other technical staff.
- Assists with network user account creation and computer domain registration.
- Maintains Managed Print Services (MPS).
- Trains new and existing staff on the use of common enterprise technologies.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

The City does not hire at the top of the range. Candidate may start above the beginning of the range depending on qualifications.
