What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Coach position at City of Castroville?
Responsible for the safety and well-being of each patron utilizing the pool and adjacent areas, enforcing rules and regulations consistently and performing general maintenance and housekeeping functions as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The fundamental duties and tasks that define the job.
- Monitors and maintains swimmer safety at all times.
- Responds promptly and performs swimmer rescue and/or first aid as necessary.
- Maintains general appearance and cleanliness of assigned area.
- Performs general housekeeping of assigned area
- Maintains water safety equipment.
- Performs chemical reading on pH and chlorine levels and water temperature.
- Assists with assigned recreational programs.
- Assists and teaches swim lessons.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Completion of 10th grade level in high school or higher
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings
- Prior to employment, must hold current nationally recognized:
- Lifeguard Training Certificate (not required for Swim Instructor position)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate
- Standard First Aide Certificate
- Must successfully complete a background check and drug test
