About the Role:
As a Performance Coach, you will be embedded in specialized training environments, working directly with athletes to develop and refine their physical, cognitive, and tactical capabilities. You will serve as a key support resource for coaches and athletes, providing expert technical, administrative, and professional guidance to help achieve approved objectives.
- Actively demonstrate and perform physical training modules alongside students to reinforce proper technique and execution.
- Guide students through exercise performance, ensuring all movements align with the established curriculum and performance benchmarks.
- Work closely with athletes to enhance their physical preparedness, providing expert coaching on essential fitness components, including swim stroke development (with and without fins), water confidence, running mechanics, and upper/lower body strength.
- Administer and evaluate physical fitness tests in strict accordance with predefined guidelines.
- Collaborate with coaches and other personnel to gain critical insights into role-specific requirements, ensuring training aligns with performance success.
- Maintain detailed performance records using databases and spreadsheets, offering data-driven recommendations for continuous athlete improvement.
- Deliver approved curriculum, ensuring all instruction is consistent and effective.
- Provide guidance and motivation to students, enhancing their awareness and understanding of physical fitness standards and expectations.
- Analyze and communicate performance trends, offering insights that contribute to better preparation for future candidates.
- When appropriate, provide authorized medical assistance to injured or ill athletes during training sessions.
- Present training modules in various settings, including classrooms, pool decks, and workout facilities, ensuring effective knowledge transfer in all environments.
- Develop and manage daily/weekly training schedules, oversee coach performance, and ensure safety protocols are upheld throughout all training sessions.
Education:
- Possess a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field, or 4 years equivalent experience working as a Coach or physical fitness leader in a similar field and environment.
Mandatory Certifications:
- Experience as a coach or athlete in competitive level swimming (club, collegiate, or Olympic).
- Certified Lifeguard (American Red Cross Certification).
- USA Swim Coach Education Requirement
- Foundation of Coaching 101/102 and/or American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 1 & 2.
Preferred Certifications:
- Prior water confidence instructional experience from a SOCOM accredited combat dive course.
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
- Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) certification.
- Strong First Bodyweight and Strong First Bar certifications.
- CPR/AED certified.
