We are seeking an individual, who has demonstrated a willing commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join our team in the position of Street Maintenance Worker.
The purpose of this position is to maintain City streets by completing street maintenance and repair activities. This is accomplished by maintaining drainage ditches, constructing erosion control structures, inspecting drainage channels for blockages and removal of blockage, repairing asphalt and concrete streets, repairing/installing concrete sidewalks, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees.
- Repairs and maintains streets by mixing, raking and spreading asphalt, sealing cracks, patching holes, participating in street overlays, cleaning streets and parking lots, measuring and constructing forms and laying cement.
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Repairs and maintains drainage systems by repairing, rebuilding and replacing pipes and inlets, removing obstructions and restrictions and installing culverts and other drainage materials.
- Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance on equipment, performing safety checks and ensuring proper operating procedures.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance required.
- Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes.
- Less than one year of related experience required.
- Valid Texas Class A CDL Driver's License required. Candidates that do not currently possess the required CDL must pass all necessary written tests to obtain CDL within two (2) months of hire, as a condition of employment. In addition, the driving test must be passed within four (4) months after the written test deadline, as a condition of employment.
- Work Zone Safety Certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Must successfully complete a six month introductory evaluation period.
