About the Position
Directs and administers all facets of real estate services for the City.
The City of Cedar Rapids does not offer sponsorship for employment authorization. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees all aspects of real estate property acquisition for the City
- Negotiates and writes agreements for complex real estate transactions and settlements.
- Administers right-of-way and real estate transactions for other city departments.
- Represents the City at eminent domain hearings; testifies at court proceedings.
- Manages the real estate acquisition activities for the City’s flood control project.
- Administers and coordinates property rights vacation and surplus property dispositions according to State Code.
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Resolves operating and administrative issues.
- Responds to inquiries from citizens.
- Develops and recommends policies and procedures.
- Performs valuation appraisals when appropriate.
- Serves on Public Works Leadership Team.
- Coordinates with engineering design staff on design issues and effects on real estate.
- Plans and coordinates internal audit on real estate transactions, grant administration, and governmental agencies participating in funding of city real estate activities.
- Performs related work as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, real estate, finance or, civil engineering or related field and
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in real estate management, right-of-way management, property acquisition, eminent domain, property appraisals and/or vacations and dispositions or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Supervisory experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Right of Way Agent Certification from the International Right of Way Association (IRWA)
- Senior Right of Way Agent certification from the Internation Right of Way Association (IRWA)
- Iowa Real Estate Broker License
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm
Salary : $82,555 - $115,565
