Cemetery Lawn Maintenance Crew Member
Adult Starting Wage: $17.00/Hr
16 & 17 yr. old Starting Wage: $15.00/Hr
Location: Zur Ruhe and Immanuel Cemetery .
Date: This is Monday-Friday, 20 to 40 hours per week position Mid-April through Early October.
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under supervision of the Building Inspector and Cemetery Supervisor, this person performs lawn maintenance of City owned Zur Ruhe Cemetery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Prepare equipment for the day
- Assist in loading gas cans, mowers and other equipment onto trucks/trailers
- Secure all equipment
- Maintain and correctly use issued personal protective equipment
- Safely operate equipment with all necessary personal protective equipment
- Mow turf using various mowers
- Edge grass at curbs and walkways
- Blow leaves and clippings
- Pull weeds and string trim as needed around headstones
- Clean site and watch for trash, limbs, and rocks
- Physical Demands: Safely perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of various landscaping equipment and materials, including, but not limited to, backpack blowers, large containers of mulch/plant material, various sizes of lawnmowers, etc.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability and willingness to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required.
- A working knowledge of ground-related equipment (riding mowers, push mowers, rototillers, blowers, edgers, string trimmers, etc.) and grounds maintenance experience is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Driver’s License at the time of appointment.
- Good driving record.
