What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Electric Worker position at City of Chaska?
We are seeking Seasonal Electric Workers to join our team for the upcoming season. This role is perfect for those who are looking to gain hands-on experience in the electric field while contributing to vital projects at the City. This position assists as directed to all employees of the Chaska Electric Department, under the supervision of the Electric Foreperson.
Please note - this job application will be open until filled.- Assists Electric department in construction of the overhead and underground system.
- Maintains equipment, tools and supplies needed for line work.
- Performs reading of meters, as assigned.
- Provides on-going assistance with tree cutting and trimming.
- Promotes quality customer relations, acknowledging any concerns and bringing them to the Foreperson for resolution.
- Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or working towards a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license
- Interest in the electric industry (preferred)
Equipment Used
- City trucks and trailers
- Hand tools including saw, chainsaw, weed whip, drill, crimper, etc.
- Meter reading equipment
- Computer & iPad

Physical Requirements
- Proper and safe operation of city vehicles, ladders, and other tools
- Varying and some prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, observing, identifying colors, climbing, balancing, and lifting, carrying and moving objects 80 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Driving to and from work sites
- Working outside in all seasons with varying levels of exposure to wind, rain, snow, ice, sun
- Working within confines of both underground and overhead electrical system structures and construction sites including energized conductors
Salary : $16 - $24
