Job Description
Do you like working with numbers in a team environment? Would you like your own office vs a cubicle? How about we throw in a designated parking space? The Sheriff’s Office is looking for someone with an eye for detail who is self motivated and enjoys working with people. Perform basic math calculations with problem solving. Reviews, verifies and processes invoices for payments and credits. Collects, enters, updates, and maintains account information. Maintains various revenue tracking spreadsheets. Creates accounts payable, revenue and budget journals. Creates requisitions for purchase of services, equipment, supplies and capital assets. Coordinates payment of department-wide purchase cards reports. Coordinate the financial portion for travel including payments, per diem reimbursements and travel voucher reconciliation. Deposit miscellaneous accounts receivable payments. Create and update information in PeopleSoft for the Sheriff’s Office. Interacts with employees, other departments, vendors and external agencies to ensure accuracy of accounts. Assists staff and public with inquiries and concerns. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Vocational/Educational Requirement: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in accounting or a closely related field.
Experience: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience. Special Certifications and Licenses: Depending on department operational needs, may require valid driver’s license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards. Special Requirements: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Must be organized, have a strong attention to detail, able to communicate effectively with others, efficient time management, mathematical skills and problem solving. PeopleSoft experience, QuickBooks experience, mathematical skills, word processing, critical thinking skills.
