Job Description

This opportunity serves as a Clinician II in Emergency Services, a 24-hour mandated service providing triage, crisis intervention, risk assessments, and pre-admission screening evaluations to individuals located in the city of Chesapeake.
Coordinates admissions to hospitals and other outpatient treatment options.
Advocates for individuals requiring inpatient treatment, crisis stabilization or DETOX services.
Requires experience in crisis intervention with populations including serious mental illness, substance abuse and intellectual developmental disabilities. Utilizes DSM-V to diagnose mental health, substance abuse, developmental and other disorders.
Consults with magistrate regarding and obtaining TDOs and ECOs to promote safety of individuals and works closely with law enforcement to triage mental health crises in the community.
Represents CIBH in commitment hearings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONALREQUIREMENT:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, closely related field, or another degree as approved by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
A master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Rehabilitation is required.
EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
Requires Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP – Adult )
CPR and First Aid certifications within 12 weeks of hire
Pre-Screening Certification within12 weeks
Requires a valid driver’s license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards.
SPECIALREQUIREMENT:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisee in Social Work or Resident in Counseling or LCSW or LPC.
