Job Description
Gathers and maintains personal information and prepares related correspondence. Verifies and submits employee information such as insurance paperwork, tax withholding documents, etc. Processes payroll including verification of time card data and distribution of checks. Creates, maintains and audits various reports and records such as overtime and leave summaries. Calculates amounts for personnel payments and balancing reports. Assists personnel with various payroll and human resources-related questions. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONALREQUIREMENT:
Requires a high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to the satisfactory completion of one year of college education in accounting or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIALCERTIFICATIONSANDLICENSES:
Depending on operational needs, may require a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City’s Driving Standards.
SPECIALREQUIREMENTS:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
Accounting or experience with payroll is required. Human Resources knowledge is preferred as well.
