The City of Chesterfield is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Our Police Department is comprised of 99 police officers and 14 civilian staff members and offers a variety of opportunities for specialized assignments.
Responsibilities
This position provides police patrols, protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws, collaboration with stakeholders through the use of community policing principles, and the apprehension of criminal violators. This position will be assigned to the Patrol Division within the Police Department.
Qualifications
Minimum education requirements include a high school diploma or GED. Two years of college credit preferred. Missouri State P.O.S.T. certification, or must successfully complete the State of Missouri mandated 600 hours of basic police academy training. Our agency will sponsor police recruits during basic police academy training after successfully completing the hiring process.
Salary and Benefits
Starting pay of $ 68,544 annually (including 12 paid holidays in 2025). (Police Recruit salary while attending the police academy is $60,278 annually.) Maximum Police Officer salary of $ 93,255.00. Lateral pay options available for Missouri State P.O.S.T. certified officers with prior police officer experience. 10-hour shifts. 40 hours of paid personal time in the first year of employment. Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance. Retirement plans: 457/401(a), which includes an 8% annual employer contribution. Paid vacation and sick time.
