Cheerleading Coach
JOB TITLE: Recreation Cheerleading Coach
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt – Part Time
DEPARTMENT: Recreation
SUPERVISOR: Gymnastics Coach, Gymnastics Specialist
SALARY: $18-$20 Per Hour
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will assist children in the City’s Cheerleading Program, ages 2-18. The position will lead classes, create routines and perform a variety of duties, unique to cheerleading. Applicant should be creative, artistic and energetic, as well as have some background in dance, gymnastics, tumbling, and/or cheerleading.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program coordination
- Teaching of a variety of Cheerleading moves
- Routine creation
- Class leading
- Excellent customer service
- Lesson planning.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Cheerleading/Gymnastics movements and terminology
- Coaching practices
- Child development
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Work personably with the public and other professionals in times of conflict or crisis
- Adapt to change and problem solve
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
- Previous work experience would be advantageous
- Experience in gymnastics, dance, tumbling, and/or cheerleading
- Experience in Early Childhood Development
- Be at least 16 years of age
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment:
Both indoor and outdoor environments; irregular working hours, including; nights and weekends
