The City of Chino Hills is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our Summer Aquatics Program as an Aquatics Instructor! This eight-week program offers weekly swim lessons, and we’re looking for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, interacting with people of all ages, and are available to work from May to July.
The program runs from June 2 to July 25, Monday to Friday, from approximately 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily.
The Aquatics Instructor is responsible for providing swim instruction and monitoring swimmers in and around the pool. They work under the direct supervision of the Community Services Coordinator and Aquatics Manager to ensure the safe use of the swimming facilities. In addition to enforcing regulations, the Aquatics Instructor performs related duties that contribute to the overall safety and enjoyment of the facility.
This is the perfect summer job for you if you have at least two years of experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, or swim team member—whether paid or volunteer—and if you're responsible and safety-conscious.

- Teach swim strokes and water safety to different age groups and individuals with varying abilities.
- Supervise the activities of swimmers in and around the pool; ensure that policies, rules, and regulations are observed, and that no safety hazard is created.
- Warn swimmers of improper activities or dangers and enforce the observance of warnings.
- Administer first aid in the event of injuries.
- Rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, administer CPR or other life-saving techniques.
- This position may perform other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Requires two (2) years combined of paid or volunteer experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor or swim team member.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Must be 16 years of age to apply. If still in High School and under the age of 18 must obtain a work permit prior to first day of work.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
- American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Aid for the professional rescuer
- American Red Cross certifications in Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
If offered the position, you must provide proof of enrollment in Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification classes by first week of May and certifications must be completed PRIOR to your first day of work.
