The City of Chino Hills is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible individual to join our Summer Aquatics Program as an Aquatics Manager. The Chino Hills Summer Aquatics program runs for eight-weeks and offers weekly swim lessons. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and interacting with people of all ages and are available to work from late April to July.
The program runs from June 2 to July 25, Monday to Friday, from approximately 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily.
As the Aquatics Manager, you will be responsible for implementing, supervising, and directing various aquatics programs. Your duties will include planning, scheduling, and assigning tasks to the aquatic staff while ensuring the safety of patrons and swimming participants. You will be directly supervised by the Community Services Coordinator, who will assist you in overseeing the Aquatics staff. This is a part-time, seasonal, at-will non benefitted position that will work no more than 29 hours per week.

Essential duties you may be responsible for:
- Assist in selecting, testing, training, scheduling and evaluating lifeguards and instructors.
- Research and prepare the order for necessary equipment and supplies; recommend budgetary expenditures; organize and monitor equipment and supply inventory.
- Receive program fees and make accurate deposits in compliance with City policy.
- Ensure the City’s high program standards are met.
- Deal firmly and tactfully with pool patrons; exercise tact and judgment when resolving problems.
- Instruct aquatics staff in the observance of rules, regulations and safety practices.
- Perform the duties of the Lifeguard/Instructor when necessary including teaching swim strokes and water safety to participants.
- Supervise the activities of swimmers in and around the pool; ensure that policies, rules and regulations are observed and that no safety hazard is created.
- Administer first aid in the event of injuries and complete incident reports in the case of an accident.
- Rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities.
- Open and close the pool facility; ensure facilities are secure upon closing.
- Respond to the public; answer inquiries and give information pertaining to the pool and swimming programs that are offered.
- Interact with co-workers at all levels of the City and the public in a collaborative and customer service-oriented manner.
- This position may perform other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Requires four (4) years combined experience as a Lifeguard, Lifeguard/ Instructor or Assistant Aquatics Manager.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from High School or GED.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a California Class C Driver’s License.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
- American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Aid for the professional rescuer
- American Red Cross certifications in Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
